We are actively involved in the All Party Parliamentary Group: Conception to Age Two – The First 1001 Days and provide the joint secretariat for the group alongside the Wave Trust.
The APPG group chaired by Tim Loughton MP was established in 2013 to promote a holistic approach to the antenatal and postnatal periods, with specific regard to the early years and infant mental health; to hold evidence-based inquiries into best practice for an infant’s first 1001 critical days to help policymakers make informed decisions on provision in this period; and to uphold cross-party consensus for this age group.
Key activity from the group has been the production of the Building Great Britons report published in 2015, following a series policy-based talks and events based on the latest scientific evidence.
Building on this work, in Autumn 2017 the APPG launched the book edited by Dr Penelope Leach: Transforming Infant Wellbeing, which brings together evidence from over 40 leading experts in infant mental health.
To receive communication about the APPG’s activities please email the secretariat.
